My Favorite Trend This Fall: Unique Wooden Watches by JORD
IMG_9390.JPG

Fall is my absolute favorite season! I’m obsessed with the smell of crisp air, yummy comfort food, and all the beautiful earth tones to dress up in! My favorite accessory this fall are WOODEN watches. JORD is an amazing company that makes these gorgeous watches and they have many different styles to choose from for women and men.

JORD wooden watches are effortlessly cool and lightweight so you will want to wear it every single day. There is something for everyone in their newest collection whether you prefer delicate thinner bands or bigger watch faces. The coolest thing about their watches are they’re customizable! They can be engraved with thoughtful messages for your loved ones.

JORD watches are absolute statement pieces and the styles they’ve created are timeless. My first choice was the Ebony and Sable Cassia Watch. The dark Ebony wood stood out to me because of it’s chocolate brown color and matte finish. The black roman numerals on the face looked super chic against the gold metal accents on the outer rim and turning dial.

I accessorized my Cassia watch with my winter-ready outfit, a dark green cardigan sweater, wine colored leggings, and dark brown hiking boots! The Cassia style comes in three different colors, too. The Walnut & Rose, Olive & Blue, and Zebra & Ivory variations of the Cassia model are also super stunning.

JORD made it easy to keep my watch looking its best by providing a free care package (valued at $115) that was complete with a J-stamped cedar box, a soft cleaning cloth, and an applicator pen filled with wood-treatment gel so I can treat my watch as needed. They have created a quality product that can stay in a family for generations.

I’ve partnered with JORD to kick off this season of giving, and everybody gets something! All entries will receive an automatic 10% off discount code, but ONE lucky winner will receive a $100 credit to JORD watches by just entering the giveaway! You could get one of these babies just in time for the holidays. Crazy, right?!

You have until 11:59 pm on 12/21 to enter!

Glowin' at the Golden Globes

Goddesses of the Golden Globes. I rarely contribute about fashion, but what a night for women! They were the stars of the entire night and most of these women have such amazing personalities, they'd shine regardless of what they're wearing. The entire network of actors and actresses opted to wear black as a political statement to show their support for victims of sexual abuse and harassment within the entertainment industry and in our country's culture. How do you stand out in a sea full of black gowns? Attention to detail and choosing the right accessories, that's how.

These were my favorite stunners who glowed last night.

IMG_3810.jpg

Viola Davis blew me away with this regal velvet Brandon Maxwell. She glowed not just because she was dripping with diamonds, her skin was just plain radiant. She finished her fab look with a cool fro and a nude lippy.

IMG_3811.jpg

Issa Rae had her year so this year at the Golden Globes, she had to show out. She stole the show with her high-slit Atelier Prabal Gurung gown. The shimmering fabric and ruched shoulders and effortless cape made this look a winner.

IMG_3812.jpg

Kerry Washington is always a fashion favorite. Even though she chose a simple silhouette, she made a bold choice by opting for low key accessories with the exception of cool-girl approved close-toed embellished booties.

IMG_3814.jpg

I'm loving this pixie cut on Kate Hudson who normally rocks wavy long locks. The focus of all our attention would be at this expensive pendant that was perfectly placed on her deep plunge gown. Her sheer Valentino was instantly memorable with the argyle detailing that cascaded down the floor.

IMG_3815.jpg

Alicia Vikander may be a newbie in the acting community but she's owning every carpet she's on. If this gown was in white, it would be impeccable enough to be a wedding gown. Even in black, it was regal and soft. The long sleeves and open back were just enough to make this look sexy and fresh.

IMG_3816.PNG

Sarah Paulson is known for taking fashion risks. This time, she kept it pretty classic with a full satin skirt on the bottom and a sequin halter top with a pretty feminine bow.

IMG_3819.jpg

Tracee Ellis Ross consistently slays with fresh bold looks. The simple one-shoulder Marc Jacobs was fitted to her body perfectly. Her headwrap was a huge nod to African-American culture she advocates for so passionately.

IMG_3822.PNG

Naomi has access to the best designers in the business. This gown was perfectly tailored for her. The stripe detailing was gorgeous and I found myself fascinated by the strips of fabric that simulated a cape. Her sleek signature 'do' made this a favorite H2T look.

Speaking of iconic stunners, Halle Berry is no exception. She always wows the carpet with her extremely figure flattering shapes and risque sheer panels. This amazing Zuhair Murad was one of the only short gowns of the night which instantly showed off her killer legs.

IMG_3824.PNG

Jessica Biel was a vision in this elegant velvet and tulle gown. Her gorgeous dress was perfectly fitted in the bust and had sheer detailing in the voluminous A-line skirt which made the gown look ethereal and lighter.

IMG_3820.PNG

Zoe Kravitz is normally subtle on the carpet and still manages to stand out in a positive way. Her gorgeous green emerald earrings gave us a flashback to the ones Angelina rocked on the carpet years ago. The simple shape kept all our attention on her sleek coif and simple makeup.

IMG_3825.PNG

Instantly my favorite gown of the night. Catherine was so freaking beautiful she took my breath away. The amazing lace detail on this Zuhair Murad on the sleeves and bodice made this look unbeatable. How many women in the world (much less her age) could pull off a fully sheer train?

Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone shut it down at sixty something years old! Her perfectly toned body was perfect for this extremely risky nude panel gown with illusion detailing. Her son was probably a little embarrassed by the attention his mother received in this gown, but if you got it girl, flaunt it.

5-Minute Makeup: Full Lashes & Glossy Lip

Here's a quick go-to look for me. The focus of this look is the thick natural lashes and a glossy lip. This is a makeup staple and you can create it in 5-minutes or less with mostly drug-store makeup. Lately, I've been obsessed over the satin foundation finishes to look polished and hydrated. Satin finish foundations are WAY easier to maintain in the summer when you're sweating throughout the day. Stay away from matte finish foundations! All you need are these products or swap out my suggestion for what you do have at home.

1. Primer- I use a natural Vitamin C serum as my base. It was $10.00 at Safeway and it works better than expensive serums I've tried.

-Use it all over your face and neck, get your eyelids too.

2. Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick in Bronze 5MW1.

-Apply to your whole face and blend use a round foundation brush or sponge.

3. Elf Cream Blush in Peach from Target.

-Apply to the apples of your cheeks, this also doubles as a shadow so blend it on your eyelids too.

4. Contour shade, I use the Tarte's Tarteist Pro Glow To Go in Chisel.

-Use a contour brush to get define your cheekbone, you can also use it to contour the sides of your nose.

5. Highlighter of choice, I use Becca's Shimmering Skin Profector in Opal.

-Use an thin flat eyeshadow brush to get in the bottom of the inside crease of your eye. Use a fanned blending eyebrow brush to highlight the top of your cheeks, the top of your lip, and the tip of your nose.

6. Liquid Black Eyeliner- I use Lorea'l in Black, use whatever you have

7. Urban Decay Volumizing Mascara or your favorite Volumizing Mascara.

-Be generous! Take your time and do at least three full coats and make sure you fan out the front eyelashes near the corners to make them look full and awake.

8. Clear eyebrow gel, I use Elf brand.

I like having thick full eyebrows so I love the little brush helps you sculpt the perfect brows.

7. Mary Kay Lip nourishing plus Lip gloss in Pink Luster or your choice!

-Slip on one coat of a glossy pink lip gloss.

5-Minute Tutorial for a Double-Fishtail braid!

I'm going to be better about recording videos for 5-minute makeup and hair tutorials for us on the go- type of mama's. Gone are the days we had time to do perfect blown out curls or glam makeup. Here' s a quick 5-minute video on how to create a double-fishtail pony.

You'll need

  • 2 elastics
  • Hard bristle brush
  • conditioning spray or lotion, edge tamer (if necessary)
  • bobby pins/hairspray optional
  1. I like to use conditioning spray and edge tamer on my hair. After applying I use the bristle brush to brush my hair into a tight high ponytail for the base of the fishtail. From here on will be in the video. Enjoy!
MTV Awards: Who was a hit and who missed

The 2017 MTV Awards fashion was underwhelming to say the least. We're used to seeing the 18 and under crowd sporting side cut outs and sheer paneling. Spring time should be rompers and floral right? Nope,  MTV celebs slayed with fairly covered bodies a trend which is usually saved for fall. The color black were huge trend last night which shows that simple can still be chic and fabulous.

Here's who Slayed...

The rest of these looks could have definitely stayed at home. I don't know what Tracey Ellis Ross was thinking with this color blocked number. I'm also seeing crazy prints from Instagram's "Golden Barbie". Let's not even get started with Farrah Abraham's tacky controversial outfit.

Best & Worst From the 2017 Met Gala

Now anyone who knows me knows I love all things pop culture, especially high fashion. I normally don't do fashion posts (even though I absolutely should more often) but last night, the 2017 Met Gala looks were SO out there. Some of them were REAL good others, not so much (I'm talking about you, Katy Perry) I'm playing fashion police today and serving you the best and worst looks from last night.

WORST

Rihanna in Comme des Garçons . Nobody can understand this look including me who will literally love a potato sack if she throws it on. I'm not sure if it's the Geisha vibe, the pink highlighter, the multicolored petals or the electrical wire heels that are making me cringe? I think it's all of it.

Katy Perry   in John Galliano.  I am not a label snob who will praise anything just because it's designer. This is straight up confusing as it is ugly. There is nothing flattering about this over embellished tulle, column, mesh gown. The headpiece could have been tossed too. Try again girl.

Chrissy Teigen in Marchesa . Marchesa is a fashion house that almost never gets it wrong. The sad thing is, they usually only dress one or two major celebrities at events like the Met so they didn't even have a chance to recover from this. This has to be the tackiest gown she's ever worn publicly. I'm getting all the Cruella Deville vibes and not in a good way.

Janelle Monae in Ralph and Russo. Speechless .  Please see the last commentary for Chrissy Teigan and feel free to apply it to the photo above.

Celine Dion in Atelier Versace.  Celine Dion may not be a fashion icon even though she is a well known  star. This is why though! Her fashion choices tend to be all over the place. Here's a perfect example of what I mean. She's sort of giving us Angelina Jolie leg slit dress and Kentucky Derby socialite with the hoof louboutins and bedazzled undershirt.

Madonna in Moschino . Madonna is the queen of tacky AF. Point proven with this military-inspired, basic training net adored messsssss honey. She could have lived without every single accessory she threw on with this too. At least she left the kitchen sink at home.

Solange Knowles in Thom Browne.  I know New York may be colder than most places in the country but you can never use that as an excuse to have a down jacket train with matching ice skates. She has one of the world's most beautiful bodies under there and we would never know it.

Nicki Minaj in Custom H&M.  Sit down and be humble Nicki. Trash must be Nicki's new muse because that's exactly where she got this outfit from. Put this back in the bin with your music and her ex's Meek Mill's career.

Cassie in On Aura Tout Vu . The upper half of this dress could have been flattering but the more you look around the more you hate this dress. The spikes on the bottom remind me of car wash spindles and the pointy accessories are giving me porcupine vibes.

Cynthia Erivo in Thom Browne. All that comes to mind is The Hunger Games whistle and Elizabeth Mann's character Effie. Not sure what she was going for here. Perhaps Marie Antoinette?

BEST

Lupita Nyong'o in Prada.  The color is amazing. The silhouette is feminine and looks comfortable and soft despite it being a couture gown proving you don't have to be uncomfortable to deliver fashion. I'm not feeling the hair but who cares when everything else is so pretty!

Emma Roberts in Diane Von Furstenberg.  Hello TV-star! She looks amazing in this deep coral colored gown. We could have lived without the stole but she is serving fierceness in this perfectly altered dress with a fringe train.

Laura Osnes   in Christian Siriano.  Not even sure who this lady is but she is giving me throwback Rihanna in that gorgeous Giambattista Valli dress in the same poppy colored hue a few years ago. I love the fact that the designer broke up the volume of the dress with the two pieces. She shined in this floral confection.

KKW in Vivienne Westwood Couture Collection . Simple. Elegant. Sexy. So chic. Can't hate on her here.

Katie Holmes in Zac Posen . ZP is a close friend of Holmes and he's dressed her on numerous occasions. I'm in love with the hue here even though it screams fall it still works. The form is super on point and it's all working for me.

Blake Lively "Reynolds"   in Atelier Versace.  She absolutely KILLED IT in this look and solidified her MILF status if we forgot the fact she's a momma of 2. The fact that her feathers match the carpet to a T was definitely planned. She's never used a stylist which makes me love her even more. She always takes fashion risks and like this one, it paid off big time!

Elle Fanning in Miu Miu . Typically the Fanning sisters are sport minimal or "maximal" looks. I think she nailed this etherial soft powder blue moment that she had here. She looks youthful and age appropriate for once and elegant without trying too hard.
